My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lily was saved from life on a chain, starving to death by the lady who ultimately brought her to us. Lily was literally skin and bones when she arrived but she still had a loving, friendly and warm disposition, despite the cruelty that had been inflicted upon her by people. Lily was left to die on that chain and was not being fed. Her life has dramatically changed now that she has been saved. We were told that Lily is about a year old and may be a great pyrenees/lab mix. She absolutely loves children, loves attention and gets along well with other dogs. She can be food aggressive with the other dogs at feeding time but that is understandable given her near death experience due to starvation. Food has become a very valued resource to her. She has gained a good amount of weight and as of 6/28/23,she weighed 56.4 pounds. She loves to play with the other dogs and she also loves to plop down on the floor in the house and just lounge around, napping and soaking up the AC. We were told that Lily was not housebroken however she has done very well in the house and also appears to be crate trained. We never make any guarantees of either however so please be prepared to give her some time and training,as needed. Lily does walk well on a leash and does not pull. She is really a very well behaved, gentle dog. She will also load up into a vehicle and rides fairly well. She did not try to get in the front or distract me. Lily will also stay in a fenced area and has not shown any inclination to dig or climb. Lily saw the vet on 6/28/23 and had no issues on her exam. She did test positive for heartworms, which was not surprising given her life on the chain and also was positive for hookworms. We have dewormed her with Drontal and started her on monthly Simparica Trio for heartworm prevention/treatment and flea control. Overall,Lily is a healthy, young girl who deserves her second chance. She will eventually test negative on her heartworm test as well,if kept in the monthly slow kill treatment of Simparica or brand/treatment of your choice.
If interested in giving Lily her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Lily's adoption fee will be $175 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us.
