My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adorable low-rider bulldog mix Lissey is ready to find her forever home!

She absolutely loves other dogs and people, but would be best as an only dog because she doesn't like to share food or her favorite toys. Lissey loves playing and entertaining herself! Lissey really likes to snuggle in bed or on the couch with her person. She's good with kids, but will be better with older kids since she thinks it's fun to chase if they run, which may not always go over so well with really little human friends. Lissey is about 35-40lb and we don't think she will get bigger.

Lissey came to us with an old elbow fracture, and she has been evaluated by a specialist who feels that surgery to repair is not feasible since the fracture was already healed on its own. She does limp sometimes, but does not seem to be painful. The surgeon recommended medical management, and advised that likely she will develop arthritis in that elbow as she ages, and may need an amputation one day down the road if she does become painful - there's no way to know for sure. She will need joint supplements life-long, and potentially some pain medication if things progress. Lissey does need help getting in and out of the car because of her short legs! But, she does well going up and down the stairs, and she has no problem finding her way onto the couch or bed!

She plays well with all dogs, but her foster mom says she's happiest with larger dogs or dogs that can keep up with her. Lissey is fully crate trained and she is working hard on perfecting the potty training! She loves going to work with her foster mom, and is a doll in the car and on leash! Lissey is mischievous (after all she's still just a baby at only 8 months old) - she loves taking things that she thinks are fun toys, so make sure to keep shoes and socks off the floor! Lissey has typical puppy antics, but is super mellow as well. She thinks cats are fun to chase, but isn't aggressive. She could possibly live with a very dog-savvy social cat.
