Skinny I was just an eight-week-old female kitten when I first arrived at the HSHC in June of 2023. I was soon adopted, and I didn’t think I’d see this place again. But on October 24, my owner surrendered me due to allergies in the family. I am now a little over 2-years-old, and a little sad to be homeless again. Life had been pretty fantastic until my owner’s girlfriend and her son began visiting, and finally moved in. The boy was allergic to me. So for the last six months, no one was happy. This was just too many changes for me to handle, and I was returned to the HSHC. I come by my name honestly because I only weigh 8.5 pounds. I have a lovely brown, gold, and black Tabby coat with a little orange streak on my forehead. The interviewer lady (IL) has visited me several times, and we always have a lovely petting session. I was so pleased that I kept moving around my apartment to make sure she could reach every spot. Of course, I gave her multiple head butts and rubbed against her hand. My owner had lots of good things to say about me. I have done well with my veterinarian appointments. I have always been an indoor cat, and I enjoy free rein of the house. I lived with another kitten, and we got along perfectly. I am very affectionate and enjoy being held. I was okay about the 3-year-old son, but as I said, all the changes in my routine caused me too much stress. Not long after I began living at the shelter, I developed an upper respiratory infection and had to go to the infirmary to take my medicine. One thing that everyone who has been with me has noticed is that I warm up to people quickly. I am a friendly little girl and can’t wait to find my forever home. 12-17-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
