My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Buddy, also known as “Thunder Purr”! He was rescued by a Virginia Beach resident working as a contractor in Jordan as part of his efforts to save some of the many, many street cats of Amman. As his time working there winds down, he’s desperately seeking loving permanent homes for them in the US - how cool would it be to add one of these babies to your family? Not everyone has a Jordanian cat, after all!

He’s a gentle and somewhat shy young male cat that was one of the only survivors of a litter of kittens that were all affected by the herpes virus. Fortunately, Buddy received veterinary treatment in time to prevent any permanent damage but his recovery was so long that his mother did not accept him back.  Since he was too young to survive on his own, he became a rescue kitty.  Buddy is more reserved compared to his older and more outgoing foster siblings but that doesn’t stop him from running, jumping and playing with the rest of them.  His favorite toys are fishing poles, string and wands although anything is fair game when he has the zoomies.

Buddy absolutely loves giving his people kisses! He is very insistent about it and will meow and reach out his paws to beckon his people closer so he can lick their faces.  That’s when his motor starts and he gets his nickname “Thunder Purr!”  At this point he doesn’t know if he likes being picked up but with time, patience and plenty of treats as bribes that could easily change.  Buddy is a great lap cat and will curl up beside his people to snuggle.  He’s very patient and will usually wait politely until his humans give him his pets before he starts to lick them!

He is good around other cats as he has plenty of foster siblings but he has never seen a dog or children.  He would be a great addition to anyone wanting a playmate for another cat his age or a single cat to cuddle and play with for the rest of his life.  Buddy is less than a year old, UTD on all vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and FIV & FeLV negative.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application to learn a bit about the home our cats will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor-only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care and spay/neuter if needed.

We DO NOT do any out of state adoptions except on the NC border on a case-by-case basis.

We require a donation of $120 for adoption of unaltered kittens with a PTV Contract. All kittens receive vaccine series and wormings as well as medical treatment as needed. The adopter is responsible for obtaining their rabies vaccine and spay/neuter if the kitten is not of age at the time of adoption. We can provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services.

We ask a donation of $25 to adopt Career/barn cats.

We require a donation of at least $140 for adoption of Spayed/neutered cat.

Bonded pairs adoption donation is $200.

Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce feral cat population in Hampton Roads by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens for adoption into loving forever homes. We are a VDACS registered 501c3 nonprofit, founded in 2014 with over 60 foster homes.

Our heart is in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return of ferals), where cats are fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped, and allowed to live out their lives without reproducing. We are advocates for advancing legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads. Our unique feral kitten socialization program has a 90% success rate in socializing feral-born kittens to become loving, in-home pets.

We are always seeking fosters, volunteers, transporters, and trappers to join our team!

We also appreciate donations! Find our most needed items
