My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Butterscotch & Fish (aka Mr. Fishy) are a bonded pair who must be adopted TOGETHER!

Butterscotch came to us with her five siblings and Mr. Fish was all on his own. The other kittens quickly took him in despite him being a little older than them, but he quickly decided that Butterscotch was his best friend!

When Butterscotch first came to us she was half the size of her siblings and only weighed 9 ounces! She didn't let this bother her though. She would chase the others around and wrestle with them, even if she wasn't so good at winning! She did catch up in size eventually.

Mr. Fish is a sweet boy who is very timid. He'll require some time to get used to his person, but once he gets to know you he'll be your buddy! He needs to be approached slowly or he will run away, but once you're petting him he melts and turns into a big purr machine. He'll even snuggle on your lap! He’s obsessed with the laser pointer, so that’s a wonderful way to bond with him. Special cheat code: Mr Fish loves people food and will happily accept pets in exchange for food! 😂

Butterscotch likes to talk and hang out in her foster mom’s lap all day, so she’s the perfect work from home or TV buddy! She’s becoming quite the lap kitty, and she loves kneading soft blankets. She also likes to investigate any people food you have - she’s especially fond of cheese sticks! She definitely enjoys playing and cuddling with Fish!

Both of these adorable kittens love to play and will happily chase springs around the house all day. Butterscotch also loves feathers! Neither have been around kids, but would do better in a home without younger kids since Fish is shy. They do well with other cats of any age, and they’re good with dogs with a little extra time to warm up to them - slow introduction is key!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application to learn a bit about the home our cats will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor-only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care and spay/neuter if needed.

We DO NOT do any out of state adoptions except on the NC border on a case-by-case basis.

We require a donation of $120 for adoption of unaltered kittens with a PTV Contract. All kittens receive vaccine series and wormings as well as medical treatment as needed. The adopter is responsible for obtaining their rabies vaccine and spay/neuter if the kitten is not of age at the time of adoption. We can provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services.

We ask a donation of $25 to adopt Career/barn cats.

We require a donation of at least $140 for adoption of Spayed/neutered cat.

Bonded pairs adoption donation is $200.

Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce feral cat population in Hampton Roads by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens for adoption into loving forever homes. We are a VDACS registered 501c3 nonprofit, founded in 2014 with over 60 foster homes.

Our heart is in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return of ferals), where cats are fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped, and allowed to live out their lives without reproducing. We are advocates for advancing legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads. Our unique feral kitten socialization program has a 90% success rate in socializing feral-born kittens to become loving, in-home pets.

We are always seeking fosters, volunteers, transporters, and trappers to join our team!
