My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hound mix
UTD, spayed
Good with other dogs
Lucy is about five and a half years old, weighs around fifty pounds, and has tested negative for heartworms.  She came in as a stray with puppies, and although her puppies have all found homes, Lucy hadn't had much human interaction so she needed time to adjust.  She is very good in her kennel and will now walk on a leash but is still very wary of people.  Although she is still a work in progress, we would love a foster or adopter to bring her home and continue working with her to show love and how to trust.  If you think you can provide a secure, patient home, please submit an application from our website eastmsanimalrescue.com.

More about this rescue

East Mississippi Animal Rescue started in 2001 and is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of abandoned animals in East Mississippi.

EMAR is a small group of dedicated volunteers trying to make a difference in our community. We are not a shelter with visiting hours; animals are housed at the homes of volunteers, which means we can accept only a limited number of animals at a time.

Each animal is given basic medical care and, if at an appropriate age, is spayed or neutered. The adoption fee charged for puppies or kittens includes a spay or neuter fee so the procedure can be done when the animal is old enough. Adoption fees also help cover routine veterinary costs.
Rescue expenses are funded by donations and adoption fees.
