FOR ADOPTION: HANDSOME is a vibrant approximately 11 month old male bully breed mix that is looking for a fun and energetic forever family. He came to us through the Town of Smithers as an unclaimed pound dog. Handsome was initially a little reserved but telling him just how handsome he was got his tail wagging and him coming in for cuddles so we decided that name just had to stick. Now that he is comfortable at the shelter Handsome is a fun, energetic, smart and personable young dog that is so ready to find his forever home. Handsome is a high energy young guy that is looking for a family that is on the go often. Handsome is going to be a great jogging, biking, hiking or skiing partner and would benefit from some form of exercise each day. He is also a highly intelligent and food motivated boy that is really enjoying training, he will need a home that will continue to provide him with mental stimulation on top of physical exercise. Handsome is an exuberant and friendly fellow that gets along with people of all ages. Handsome does well with older confident children, especially those that play fetch. He is a young and sometimes bouncy boy that will absolutely knock down small kids while he is playing or otherwise excited. We are looking for a home aged 12+ for him until he matures a little and learns some more self control. He could easily have young kids visit with him. Handsome really enjoys the company of other dogs and loves to play! He comes on strongly with play but is friendly and submissive while playing. Handsome pairs best with other large, young and playful dogs that match his energy. His cat testing was pretty neutral, we do think Handsome would chase a cat that ran but he would also be respectful of a confident cat that was clear with its boundaries. Handsome has been clean in his kennel and walks well on a leash when he is not distracted, it’s is very easy to get his attention back on his handler by using treats. Handsome is neutered, vaccinated and up to date on parasite control. He is heading to a foster home soon to have more stimulation than shelter life provides and to continue working on his manners and basic training.
