My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB:2/21/2012  Saran is a 11-yr-old quirky gal.  She is comfortable with new surroundings and new things, explores up and down, in and out.   She lives with an old and cranky female feline who hisses and warns her off, but Sarah maintains her distance and civility.  She has a 45 lb. canine visitor who stays for days at a time and has him well in hand, boldly eyed him down on the first meeting and has maintained her superiority since.  Saran is an avid bird watcher.  She is quite conversational, talking back when you answer her meow with one of your own.   She loves being in the same room with her human but isn't one to sit still for petting--that activity involves her kneading your lap or rubbing her cheek against a nearby table while you are stroking her back. She is very agile and quite active.   Her zoomies are frequent and have included running up and down the basement stairs, an airborne leap off the kitchen table, and a high speed run on to the end table, knocking its contents to the floor.  She  loves her tiny stuffed bird on a wand: plays with it, steals it from its hanging place and drags it through the house, sings a dirge to it for a minute or two, then brings it to the resident human.  Although she is otherwise healthy, she does take a thyroid medication daily, but that is a simple transdermal rub in her ear.

**This cat is currently in a foster home and arrangements can be made for a meeting once you have applied with us. All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV/FeLV. If interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process. Due to the large number of inquiries received, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.**

Go meet their pets

The Colony Cats Adoption Center is a completely different experience in 'sheltering' homeless companion cats. While most of our felines still live in foster homes, we now can bring them out into the public with our cage free adoption center. Cats can do what comes naturally- jump, run, climb, and play; but only until they find their way into your heart and home.

We have pledged not only to make this a completely different experience for the cats, but also for the public.
While we strive to make the adoption center as beautiful as possible, the cats within our care remain our top priority. Our firm belief as an organization is that every homeless cat deserves a chance because every cat matters. We hope that you'll come by and share with us our vision.

More about this rescue

Colony Cats is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose primary mission is to address cat overpopulation in central Ohio through public awareness and spay/neuter efforts. Since 2002, our organization has facilitated spay or neuter of over 6,324 animals.

Specialized help for feral, stray and abandoned cats is a core element of our programs. We assist compassionate caregivers who are feeding and watching over homeless cats by providing TNR (trap-neuter-return) and other support services including food, shelter, vaccines and additional vet care for injuries/illness, as well as educational resources.
We also have a network of foster homes for friendly, adoptable cats and kittens - as well as dogs and puppies that we encounter while assisting cats - that have been rescued.
