Cabo von Calden is a beautiful 14-15 month old Shepherd mix. With stunning yellow eyes and a breeze of a name, Cabo’s happy demeanor will come out quickly once he makes your acquaintance. He is a bit shy when he first meets humans, but he’ll turn that around with one treat; at the first sight of a cookie, he’ll sit down and offer you his paw. He does a great job on his leash and will heel once he settles in with you – as soon as you start walking, he’ll let you know that you’re his new best friend. Cabo loves being petted and given affection, and he has a good, medium level of energy. In his playgroups, he is a fantastic greeter and makes sure to invite all of the pups to play with him. He is looking for that ever-elusive best friend. If you’re seeking the same, he would love to meet you! (No cats please.)

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
