Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Elizabeth (born: 10/19/2008) is a 15 pound Shih Tzu with a sweet, gentle, quiet nature. She enjoys playing with her toys, going for walks and taking naps. Elizabeth originally came to the Society at 3 years old in 2011 when she needed to have surgery to remove stones from her bladder. Surgery was performed, Elizabeth was put on a special diet for life and she was adopted. Eleven and a half years later her adopter died suddenly in her sleep and Elizabeth is once again here to find another home with someone who will love and care for her. Currently she runs around with the other small dogs and could live with another dog(s) as long as they all like each other and she is fed her special diet and does not eat their food.
We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us.
