My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petunia has come such a long way since her rescue! We saved Petunia from Palm Beach Animal Control where she was on the euthanasia deadline due to being heartworm positive. She has pulled through from her medical treatments for not only HW+ but also lepto, needing a lot of care and training which she received for several months with GTS Husky’s behaviorist.

Petunia is a really tiny girl at only 34lbs. We think she is actually 1 year or younger as she seems all puppy still! Petunia is such a love, she will shower you with endless kisses!

She is dog friendly, and she is a velcro dog (she won’t ever want to leave your side) who will quickly bond with you, is energetic and SO loving. Petunia is also VERY cat friendly.

Petunia is crate trained, potty trained, and has over 5k of balanced dog training invested in her wellbeing. When she is spooked she can be a bit mouthy and nip out of fear. She would be best going to a home with a lot of patience and no small children. She is muzzle trained for high stress handling such as at the vet, because of her previous trauma she is still very reactive at.

She needs a home who can let her decompress, gain trust, and be understanding that she likely had a very traumatic past but has made such huge progress in overcoming this. We know ‘Tuna (loving nickname she has in foster) will do phenomenal with an adopter that is committed to keeping up with her training, and isn’t gone for long stretches of the day (ideal work from home dog). She is looking for her forever person to go on big adventures and cuddle with - and comes with free lifetime training support from a behaviorist.
