My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ila, an absolutely royal panther with sleek ebony fur, mesmerizing yellow eyes and quite a personality! At only one year of age, Ila has been through a lot. From living on the streets, getting turned into a high-kill shelter with her 8 newborn kittens, getting calicivirus, being put on euthanasia list, to losing all her kittens (to that same virus). And yet, in spite of all the hardships, Ila is full of love, trust and gratitude. She craves being seen and being petted. She loves to be where the whole family is, but also will need access to a quiet space where she can hide from everyone and relax in a quiet space if she needs it. Ila loves to play with toys, sleep on a curved cardboard scratcher, and to be given Churu treats.
She can be a bit territorial, and needs time to warm up to other pets. Sometimes it might require several introductions. After that, she will still sometimes attempt to show who the boss is. But once she fully recognizes another pet as family, and once she realizes that the pet is not in the way of her humans’ love for her, she will become the bestest of friends with them! Ila is a rock star as a friend: case in point, after having lost all of her children, Ila eventually helped a fellow kitty mom (who was also rescued from the same shelter), to nurse her kittens because the other cat was too weak and too sick to nurse.
Ila will be an ideal cat for a family with one pet already, as a solo cat in a home where she will be loved and spoiled like the queen that she is, or with one of her foster siblings (Akay, Onca, Captain Kirk, Tiger Lily, Spock, Gia) ! Come and meet our beautiful Ila today and let her cast her spell on you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Here is our Adoption Process:

1. Submit an adoption application at www.thecatsmeowanimalrescue.org

2. If you have not yet met the cat(s) you wish to adopt, come to an adoption event or schedule a foster home visit to meet the cat(s). Please note that we cannot schedule any private foster home visits until you submit an application.

3. If your application is approved, we will contact you within a week to schedule a home visit. One of our experienced volunteers will stop by your home to ensure that you are able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the cat. We may also provide tips for integrating the cat into your home environment.

4. We ask for a minimum tax-deductible donation* of $225.00 for each cat you adopt from us. Donations may be made online (via a secure PayPal transaction) or in-person via cash or check. If you are adopting a pair of kitties, the donation is $200.00 each ($400.00 total).

*Additional donations are highly encouraged, as they enable us to rescue another cat from the shelter or the streets. Because our organization is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, we rely solely on donations to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected cats.

5. We will have you sign an Adoption Agreement detailing the terms of the adoption at the time you collect your new kitty. You may view a copy of it on our website.

6. That’s it! You will communicate with the cat’s foster parents to coordinate pick-up. Please always transport your cat in a carrier for safety.

7. We will email or mail you a copy of your Adoption Agreement, a letter confirming your donation, and medical records and microchip information. This usually takes about 2 weeks.

In addition to receiving individualized medical care, we provide the following services to our cats: spay/neuter, microchip, testing for FELV/FIV, flea and dewormer treatments, and vaccinations.
