Meet gorgeous Cesar who was left in a box with her two sisters and with his mother tied to a pole outside of the shelter after hours where they waited alone and frightened until the shelter opened up the next day. All his family has been adopted and he is the only one left without a forever home.

Letter from Cesar:

“I am an introverted home body seeking introverted home body. The outside world can be scary. I prefer the comfort of home where I can sit and watch tv in peace and quiet. A human partner who enjoys couches and TV is preferred. Dog parks and hikes are too chaotic for me. I like my house. Did I mention that I like being home? Well I do. Do you have a home? If you do I would like to be your life partner. Love Cesar”

His ideal home would be one of patience, patience, patience. The adopter would have to understand that Cesar needs to take it slow so a quiet, calm home is necessary for him to move forward. A home with a securely fenced in yard is a must as he is a definite flight risk at first. No apartments or condos for Cesar. He is extremely shy and would need time to trust people and the world around him. This could take a while and the adopter must be committed to him to make sure that he gets the time and patience he so deserves. Someone who is at home most of the time would be best for him and because of his shyness a home with respectful children 16+ would be best. He would do best with other dogs in the home as they would assist him in gaining confidence and make him feel more comfortable in the home as he seems to take the lead and cues from his canine friends. He has no issue with cats at all and has been tested with them in the shelter.

Cesar walks well on leash, but is constantly checking to make sure he is right beside you and looks up for encouragement. Everything is new to him and he needs time to process all the new sounds, sights and smells, and as he becomes accustomed to them, his demeanour becomes calmer. His walking on a street will take some time and we recommend allowing him in the backyard for the first little while.

Cesar is housetrained and crate trained, (His crate is his safe spot and it is a requirement for him at first) He is still learning human interaction and it would be beneficial for him to settle into a forever home sooner rather than later which is why we are looking for the right, calm, patient home for him. Cesar is a delicate little boy who is very sensitive and requires a lot of love but at his own pace. He cannot be forced.

If you feel you would be the right fit for Cesar, please fill out an adoption application at www.allpawsmatter.ca

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
