Meet Jazz, a beautiful, sweet girl dumped at a shelter, trembling in a corner of a kennel full of dogs..and pregnant. Well that is all in the past, and this sweetheart is learning that life can be good. Jazz would do best in a quiet and calm environment. She is a bit fearful and will require someone to take it slow and build a trusting relationship. She has done well around other small dogs even more active but still respectful ones.. She is not interested in the cats, which is perfect. She is clean in her crate, but we are unsure if she is completely housebroken. Her crate is her safe space and she is quite happy in there. Jazz is still working on gaining confidence. She will be a flight risk for a while and will need someone to be patient as she gets more comfortable with the world. Jazz is a very sweet girl and I could see her becoming a perfect couch or lap potato. HART’s board is comprised of Houston-area people who have long been active in dog rescue, and who want to make a difference in outcomes for stray dogs and those surrendered to local shelters. We are a kennel-based system built on a beautiful property in Tomball, Texas.
Rescued dogs are fully vetted and, when ready, adopted out on-site at the facility, or through meetings with fosters. HART also coordinates with shelters in the northern U.S. to find homes for dogs that aren’t adopted locally. Additionally, HART provides information, education and community advocacy to improve animal welfare, via adoption and fundraising events, visits to schools, and through social media. We are working with a dedicated group of volunteers to reaffirm that Houston has a terrific HART.
