My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, I'm Thor, a sweet 10-year-old pup with a heart of gold! I've been through some tough times in Missouri, surviving three different abusive households. But guess what? I'm here now, ready to leave all that behind and step into the safety and love of my forever home!

Life's thrown me some challenges, but I'm one resilient furball, always eager to share my love. I've got a favorite toy that I can't get enough of, and walks? Oh, I'm up for not just one but maybe two! Snuggling is my absolute favorite, and I seize every chance to get close to my favorite humans.

I'm proud to say I’m fully potty trained and have not made any stinky messes since being in foster care (despite being forced to live in my own urine and feces in my previous home!) Good riddance!

I'm working on this thing called kennel training, and I'm doing great when left alone at home, either in a room or roaming free. I've had some furry friends in the past, even a pig! But I gotta admit, small and overstimulating animals aren't my cup of tea. Slow introductions are key with me!

Right now, I'm sharing my space with a cat who knows the ropes when it comes to dogs. But, you know, I might do best as the only child or with a furry friend who's just the right match. Kids? I've been good with them in the past, but loud noises and quick movements make me a bit nervous. So, if you're looking for a family dog, maybe stick with kids who are 8 or older.

Oh, did I mention I'm treat motivated? Show me a treat, and I'll be your best friend! I'm a quick learner, and I walk like a pro on a leash, and am even great in off leash areas! I’m not a dasher! I've got a kind soul, and I'm hopeful that my golden years are the best ones of my life!

Bring me into your world, and I promise, you'll be my entire world. Let's make some paw-some memories together! 🐾

Interested in adopting?
1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application
2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!
3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home

Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time.
