Hemi was found lying down exhausted by the side of the road in January 2021. He had a string cinched around his neck so tight that he could hardly breathe. His front right leg had also healed crooked from at least 2 breaks. After all that, he is still trusting and longing for love. He is good with people and settles down well once he is out of his run and with someone. He is easy to handle, not sensitive to grooming, nail trims, etc. He is affectionate and comes when you call him. Just a great tough little dog. Hemi is on a joint supplement for the leg that was fractured. His gait is a little awkward but he has not trouble walking. He LOVES swimming, especially to retrieve toys or maneuver a herding ball. Hemi enjoys walking with other dogs and is being introduced into play groups. He has not been tested with cats. We try our best to give Hemi a good life but the rescue will never truly be home for him. We hope to see him transform into the dog he was always meant to be once he finally finds his family.

More about this rescue
It all began late one evening when Meredith, founder of LCAR, watched John, co-founder, pull into the driveway with an unexpected passenger. There she sat in the front seat, as tall as she could possibly get, so she could look out over the dashboard. It was love at first sight. That’s when Roxy went home with Meredith and John, becoming the first of many, many rescued dogs, cats, and horses that were yet to find their way home to the ranch.
Lucky arrived soon after. She and Roxy were thick as thieves from day one and roamed the ranch as if they owned the place. Well, they did actually own the place!
Several dogs have shown up on the property since then, appearing as if out of thin air. They must have heard of the ranch being the place to be if you had no place left to go.
