My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Millie came to us in 2022 with what appear to be a spinal injury but she was so severely matted, it was difficult to tell. Her mats were actually creating nerve damage, causing her to to drag her rear legs and unable to control her potty needs. Now that she has received proper care and had time to health is doing much better. She will however most likely always dribble and need help a couple of times a day to fully eliminate. She is fully mobile and active but tends to hop with her back legs and not able to wag her tail. She currently is enjoying residing with the sanctuary chihuahuas in their plush gated community with plenty of grass.  Millie has a very sweet disposition and doesn't let any disability slow her down. She is social, playful and loves to sneak in lots of kisses. She has not been tested with kids but has shown no signs of sensitivity or intolerance. She loves everyone. All she needs is someone willing to accommodate her needs and she return the kindness with abundant joy and love.

More about this rescue

It all began late one evening when Meredith, founder of LCAR, watched John, co-founder, pull into the driveway with an unexpected passenger. There she sat in the front seat, as tall as she could possibly get, so she could look out over the dashboard. It was love at first sight. That’s when Roxy went home with Meredith and John, becoming the first of many, many rescued dogs, cats, and horses that were yet to find their way home to the ranch.

Lucky arrived soon after. She and Roxy were thick as thieves from day one and roamed the ranch as if they owned the place. Well, they did actually own the place!

Several dogs have shown up on the property since then, appearing as if out of thin air. They must have heard of the ranch being the place to be if you had no place left to go.
