If you’re looking for a companion and a dog that is eager to please - a dog who will love you unconditionally and is happy to snore next to you - King Beluga is the dog you want to meet. He is sweet, smart and attentive. He loves adventures outside the house, and would make a great hiking buddy. He’s a solid boy at 62 pounds, but he’s picking up his loose leash training like a champ and is ready to explore the city or woods. He seems to walk best on his harness. When back home from your adventures, King Beluga is very content to curl up near you while you work or do your own thing. This curious, happy-go-lucky boy loves learning, is eager to please, and already knows SIT, PAW, DOWN, and STAY. He`s very sweet and seeks affection from his person. He will lay his big ole noggin against you for comfort at times.
King Beluga recently enjoyed a Dogs Day Out, and his day gave a wonderful glimpse into the kind of companion he will be in a home. He is a fun, affectionate boy who loves having space to run and play. In the yard, King happily zoomed around, attempted to play fetch, and soaked up the freedom of being outdoors. After getting his energy out, he was more than ready to shift gears and enjoy some quality time with his people.
King Beluga is a smart, well-trained pup who proudly shows off his skills, including sit, paw, down, and wait. He can get a bit excited when asking for attention, but he is very responsive and easy to redirect, quickly settling into a polite sit. His favorite way to receive affection is leaning in close and asking for enthusiastic butt scratches. Once he’s had time to play and burn off energy, King becomes a calm and easy walking companion.
While the car isn’t his favorite place and he prefers being close to his people during rides, he handled the outing well and even enjoyed a pup cup along the way. King is affectionate, people-oriented, and clearly enjoys bonding with his humans—he even likes to express his gratitude with a sweet kiss once he feels comfortable. King Beluga is a handsome, lively, and loving dog who would do well in a home that can provide both playtime and affection. He’s ready to find a family who will enjoy his playful spirit, appreciate his training, and give him the attention he thrives on!

When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.
