My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Force, the galaxy's most lovable 3-year-old dog with a heart as big as the cosmos! Just like his name suggests, he's got the power to bring joy and happiness to your life. Force is a true Jedi of the dog world, spreading positivity wherever he goes.

Force may have faced a challenge in battling heartworm, but his determination and spirit shine brighter than ever. With proper care and treatment, he's on his way to a healthier future. This resilient pup is an inspiration to us all, showing us that with a little love and support, anything is possible.

When it comes to making new furry friends, Force is a true master. He's dog-friendly and super social, ready to embrace every wagging tail and joyful playtime with his fellow canine companions. Whether it's a game of fetch or a friendly romp at the dog park, Force's enthusiastic and friendly nature is bound to win hearts.

But don't let his playful side fool you - Force has a gentle and cuddly side that's perfect for those quiet moments at home. He's laid back and knows how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, whether it's snuggling up on the couch or taking a leisurely stroll in the park.

Force is a fantastic family dog, and his love knows no bounds.

So, as you consider welcoming Force into your home, may the Force be with you. With this wonderful dog by your side, every day will feel like a galactic adventure filled with love, cuddles, and a whole lot of joy. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey with Force as your loyal co-pilot!

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
