My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi hi!! My name is Iris and here's my story:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: German shepherd/Lab mix (best guess!)

  • Age: 1 year 5 months approx.

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 37lbs (17 kg)

  • Height (to shoulders): 36cm

  • Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico

RESCUE STORY - When I was just a wee, wee puppy (besides these ears - these were never wee!) I was found narrowly avoiding cars on one of the busiest avenues of Guadalajara. My rescuers scooped me up just in time and took me in. It was clear I was a street dawg - used to surviving in the toughest of environments. Only, I'm not so tough after all! You see I quite like the company of hoomans, a soft bed, and good food. Yeah, I think I could get used to this! Now I'm looking for my furever family so we can continue living the good life together! Whaddya say?

TEMPERAMENT - Besides loving the dolce vita I also looove spending my time with hoomans and other doggos doing fun things (EXCEPT baths! Who invented those?!). Really, I'm just a super sociable pup who's happy to be included in your fun activities and allll the games of fetch. I'm still a puppy so I have some extra energy to burn off but I can be relatively calm in between all the zoomies. I'm also still gaining my confidence, I can be a bit shy when I'm in a new environment (but I blossom with lots of love and patience).

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - High

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yes I have been tested with older children and do well with them :)

  • Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs as you can see here

  • Cats – Unknown

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – My rescuers say I am doing well with my leash skills, however I may need some additional patience and training.

  • House trained – My rescuer says I am doing well with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

  • Crate trained – Not yet.

  • Car rides – I do pretty well in the car!

Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed and vaccinated.

  • NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
