My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tibet!

Hi, my name is Tibet! I got my name because I’m a Lhasa Apso, and my breed originates from the Himalayas, which lie between Tibet and India. My foster mom calls me TB for short. I was found as a stray, but my foster mom says there is lots of spunk still in me because I'm just a young adult. I wasn’t always a stray, as I have manners. I know how to sit, take food real gentle and know a big person bed when I see one. I am a little special too. No one truly knows my story, but when the police found me on the side of the road, I was dragging my back end. The vet thinks I have something called IVDD, so my disks are compressed. Don’t worry, though. My foster mom has taken great care of me, and I walk like a champ now! My back still gets sore, but don’t we all when we do too much? So I take some medicine to help with any pain, but it’s not a big deal. Because of my back problem, I can’t do steps and I can’t jump up and down off furniture, so you will need to help me, but I am only 16 pounds so it’s not hard. When you're away from home and need to leave me there, you can just let me roam the house because I'm a good boy! Honestly, I'm not a fan of being confined either, so crates are a no-go for me. I'm completely housetrained, so there will be no accidents.

Since my past isn't known, I do need a little time to warm up to new people, and I much prefer women over men. They just need to understand that I will love them when I'm ready and need to have a little patience with me. I take medicine for my anxiety, but I’m hoping that with time and a loving home, one day I won’t need it anymore. I love other dogs and live with several others, including a blind one and she doesn't bother me, but I can be very protective of my food and personal space. I could also live with older children, teenagers, but little kiddos might not be a good idea because of my back. I LOVE going for walks, playing with toys, and being the center of your attention and world. I also enjoy chasing other animals outside, even bugs or leaves, so if you have a fenced-in yard, please be sure it's very secure so I don’t get lost again. I likely wouldn't do well in an apartment setting, as I enjoy barking (hey, maybe I have a little Chihuahua in me! Ha!), and could probably use a little training in that regard. But my goal in life is to find my very own people who will love me for who I am, with all my flaws, and help me learn to be the best dog! We do have many years together hopefully! I promise to love you, and sing the song of your people on karaoke night. Ed Sheerhan is my favorite! I'm a hopeless romantic, what can I say. I may not be a night in shining armor, but I definitely can't wait to find my person to love all the rest of my days!
