My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Update:

Leila (on the bottom) is a striking longhair and a pretty big-sized lady. She has warmed up to her foster Mom considerably since coming to her current foster home and will sometimes accept being petted when approached calmly. Although she certainly spends some time outside in the enclosed yard of her foster building, she spends the majority of her time inside, usually on a cat tree or comfy bed. She seems certain to be a real homebody and will be a beautiful presence in a quiet, traffic-safe barn home.

Leila and her long-term companion, Croissant, continue to be closely bonded and are adoptable only as a pair.

Original Post:

Leila is a sweet but cautious kitty who is quite shy around most people. She might eventually allow a person she trusts to pet her, but doesn't want to be picked up or held. She does well with other cats, but has had no direct exposure to dogs. Leila will most likely be happiest as a barn cat in a quiet barn environment in a traffic-safe location. Adoption together with her close friend and companion, Croissant, is a must!

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We ask our adopters to fill out a brief application. We seek adopters that will provide a loving home for the life of the pet with proper vet care.

The Cat Shack adoption contract states that the adopter will keep the cat safe, provide vet care and will return the cat to the Cat Shack rescue if the owners find that they can no longer keep their pet.

The Cat Shack adoption fee is $75 and includes FeLV/FIV testing, vaccines, deworming, the spay or neuter plus any other medical issues needed. This often includes dentals and other expensive vet work.

Go meet their pets

We always have many cats and kittens listed on our website at www.thecatshack.com, plus we have adoption centers where you can meet some of our cats live in the following locations:

More about this rescue

The Cat Shack is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization staffed by volunteers.

We keep all of our rescued cats until they get adopted and will treat all medical issues identified by our vets. All of our pets are fostered in the homes of volunteers and we utilize our adoption centers in the PetsMart in Whitehall PA, the Petvalu in East Greenville and and Petvalu in Quakertown to help us find homes for our rescued pets.

Our group also has a very active Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) program where feral cats are altered and returned to their original location to live out their lives without reproducing.
