PLEASE READ DOTTIE’S BIO IN DETAIL TO ENSURE THAT SHE WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE BEORE APPLYING. PEASE NOTE: DOTTIE IS BEING FOSTERED IN OTTAWA, ONTARIO

We at All Paws Matter believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. This is now a requirement in our adoption process. Proof of training classes for puppies specifically is required before adoption.

Dottie’s mama arrived in the shelter weak, malnourished and so thin that unbeknownst to the shelter staff she was pregnant. The next morning Dottie and her siblings were born and thankfully, off the street so it was a blessing because now the puppies would be properly nourished, vetted and taken care of.

Dottie is as an affectionate, sweet, loving and gentle pup. Since she is a bit timid, another dog is imperative in her new home. She is very comfortable with dogs and is very respectful of the cats in her foster home. She is currently living with two resident senior dogs and and definitely understands when they don’t want to play with her and she plays very well on her own. She is still a puppy and does have puppy energy, and she will need training to help her with manners.

Dottie does prefer women to men. She is somewhat anxious and uncomfortable around men but is slowly progressing with this. Patience, time and training would provide her the opportunity to become much more confident with this issue. Dottie tends to “mouth” when playing with people so she needs reinforced correction that this is not acceptable. She loves squeak toys, and would take to agility.

Dottie’s ideal home would be a quiet one with a fully secured fenced yard where she could spend some time basking in the sun quietly or running around with a buddy. Being home at least part of the day would be calming for Dottie and it would help her with her anxiety. Potential adopters would need to let her expend her energy with walks. She can be nervous of loud noises, traffic so please keep this in consideration when applying. A fairly active family would be ideal for her and someone in the home at least part of the day is beneficial. Dottie is fully house trained, crate trained and is living with dogs and cats. We believe children 10+ will be fine for her. She is a true gem and we can’t wait for her to find a home of her own.

She has no signs of prey drive and is good with small animals.
If you feel you would be the right fit for sweet little Dottie, please fill out an adoption application at www.allpawsmatter.ca

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
