My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Paolo is a 44-pound, 2-year-old black lab mix. He is one of three brothers under SCLRR's care. This sweet and goofy boy is a bundle of energy but also likes to lay at your feet while you work and will come over for pets and head scratches.
He enjoys his walks and walks well on a leash most of the time but will pull when excited or overwhelmed which is whenever he is in new surroundings. After his morning walk and breakfast, he will settle down for the day. Since he is a young dog, he does like his zoomies, especially with his older foster brother, who doesn't really know what to make of it.

Paolo is learning how to live in a house. He knows how to sit and lie down. He knows he is supposed to do his business outside but he will still have occasional accidents. He is treat-motivated when calm and tries hard to learn what is expected of him. He is so happy and excited about interacting with his humans that he sometimes just can't help but tap his front paws and can't keep still in anticipation.

Paolo loves being with his people all the time and is making some progress towards being left alone in the house for short periods of time. He is hesitant and fearful to be around men until trust is established.

During his walks, he is friendly but a little aloof with other dogs. Although he has not been tested with cats, he is not bothered by squirrels nor rabbits along his walks.

Paolo so wants to be part of the family but sometimes his nervousness get the better of him. He is looking for a family with a quiet household that has the time, love and patience to give him structured training and help him build confidence in navigating the world around him. He will benefit from dog training classes. His owner would need to be loving yet firm, calm yet adventurous, with plenty of time to help a nervous and skittish dog decompress.

Since sudden movements really spook him and will send him into hiding and since it takes time for him to trust, he should ideally go to a family with just adults or with older children.
