My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh LORDY.

We are losing our minds over this little pixie of a boy, still a puppy and let me tell you, he knows his voice. He loves to play and play, and his tail is a constant whir of motion. He's fostering with two of our best foster daddies and their crew of weiners, so he's learning the ropes.

He's like any other doxie, vocal! He burrows, plays and if you are looking for a kissy-kissy lap dog on the go then this is the one for you. His temperament is pure sugar, so be prepared for sweet lovins whenever he's around. Because of his active nature and vocal proclivity, we are looking for a home with another young, playful small pup, a fenced yard and home rather than apartment. His humans need to be active to keep up with his high energy antics. Walks would be a great strategy for him and you to get your steps in everyday. He hasn’t been around kids but we think older children (12+yrs) who have some dog savvy could be a fit as well.

We had his vetting completed and he took it like the brave boy he is. Not a whimper, not a growl and not a snarl. (Just those damn puppy dog eyes that continue to melt our hearts!)

Taquito needs someone who can help him learn and grow, who can be a good influence, and who will spend a lot of time with him. This little guy is great but does need structure and clear expectations set. He'd be a great dog to add to an already established pack or for someone looking for a wonderful second (or third or fourth) dog.

If you are interested in adopting Taquito, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Taquito's adoption fee is $700.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Taquito will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.

Almost every dog's veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees; we are non-profit.

**Taquito is a Legacy Dog. Legacy Dogs are highly adaptable dogs that can assist other dogs in our rescue with their vetting bills.

Legacy dogs have a much higher desirability quotient. They're young, healthy and usually purebreds. These dogs leave a financial legacy for those animals who need extra help - whether they need extensive medical care or just a little more time to find a loving home.

(And they still cost less than going to a breeder!)

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.

Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.

DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
