Here's what the humans have to say about me:
And the award for Best Leading Dog in the Hound Division goes to TANK! (Insert cheers and applause.) My name is TANK and I want to TANK everyone who helped me achieve this award. If it wasn't for the amazing support and kindness of many, I am not sure if or where I would be today. I will try and be short with my acceptance speech. Firstly, I would like to TANK my elderly human grandparents who took me in when my deadbeat owner dumped me on them. They did the best they could to care for me. My humble beginnings were in a tiny outside kennel. I spent my days and nights dreaming of a better life. When my grandparents were no longer able to care for me due to health issues, I was taken to a high kill shelter in southern Indiana. I am especially grateful for the Humane Society who pulled me from the pit of despair and literally saved my life. You treated my heartworm disease and showed me the luxuries of inside living. I am never going back, spending my days outside bored in the heat and cold. TANK You for loving and caring for me. Lastly, I want to express my appreciation to Rover Rescue. The last 8 months in Indiana, I have been patiently waiting for a family to see my greatness and adopt me. When my foster mom heard of my struggle, she wanted to help. She hopes that now I am living in Illinois, I will have so many more opportunities to find a furever home. In the meantime, she has made me a part of her canine family. I fit right in with the three other male dogs in the house. As previously mentioned, I am a hound. The best guess is a Black and Tan Coonhound with possibly some German Shepherd in the mix. Even though my name suggests that I am beefy, I am more of a lean, lanky guy weighing in at 60 pounds. On my recent visit, the vet said she would like to see me at the 65 pound mark. I like that vet person! She also thinks that I am a perfect age of 4 years old. I am over all the puppy antics. However, I am a hound dog so I am stubborn! Sometimes, I will go into my crate if it suits me. Other times, I will need to be manhandled. Lucky for me and my foster mom, I only am kenneled when I am home alone. It was no surprise that I wasn't fully housetrained considering I was an outside dog previously. I have proven to be very successful with my training with a consistent schedule. I am now trusted to sleep in the carpeted master bedroom. I like to take my half out of the middle of the bed in between my foster parents. The other foster dog in the house gets to sleep in bed also so we are always jockeying for the best position. I am a pretty independent dog. I like my temporary canine siblings, but I would be fine as an only dog. A fenced in yard is strongly recommended for me. When I catch a scent, I do not know my name. I will clear out your yard of bunnies and squirrels. I do not like cats either. I am a friendly dog with humans. My foster family no longer has young children, but doesn't see any concerns except I may knock someone down who is not steady on their feet. I greatly enjoy long walks and call shotgun on car rides. I am a great snuggle partner once I get a little exercise under my feet. Just so you know, thunderstorms and I are not friends. TANK you for reading about me. If you would like to meet the best hound dog ever, please contact Teri at 630-897-7454. I may even let you see my trophy. My adoption fee is $225.
