My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Once upon a time, in the far away land of Texas, there lived an adorable pup named Tanner, whose lonely life was suddenly changed with a last-minute rescue by the loving Doodle Dandy fairies.

The fairies are determined to find Tanner his own happily-ever-after.

Tanner is a very special pup and is looking for someone who understands that his heart and his ability to love far exceed his size, which is saying something. While he has a big bark, Tanner is very smart, learns quickly, and most importantly, wants to please. He is a social butterfly that loves to greet all kinds of people, though he doesn't love other dogs. He’s not dog aggressive, he just has a strong preference for people.

Speaking of that big bark and big brain, Tanner will try to use both to fool you into thinking he’s not crate trained when in fact he is. If you can just ignore his fake protest barks when you first put him in a crate, after a few minutes he settles down and is perfectly content.

The ideal home for Tanner would be one with an experienced dog owner committed to continued training and willing to maintain boundaries. He wants to be the only dog in a home where he can get all of the cuddles, snacks and brushing - Tanner loves being brushed! Tanner wants to be a big part of his owner’s life and enjoys neighborhood walks, hikes and car rides, but he does not enjoy being left alone. He’s fine in his crate for 4-6 hours, but after that he gets lonely. He will also sleep quietly overnight in his crate, but if you leave him out he will sneak into bed with you in the middle of the night—which is pretty subtle for a pup of his size.

Tanner would like a yard for his games of fetch and for zoomies. However, he’s not a speed demon; his zoomies are the slower, lumbering kind. He would also be in heaven if he could play in a personal digging pit. The Doodle Dandy fairies are searching for that special family Tanner can join as a loving companion for life.

Tanner’s adoption fee is $600. He’s HW negative, current on all HW/Flea preventatives, neutered, and microchipped. All adoption fees go toward expenses so the magical Doodle Dandy fairies can cover medical and food costs for other deserving Doodle Dandy Dogs, making it possible to continue the magic by giving amazing pups like Tanner a second chance. Additional adoption info

Adopters are screened with an application for each dog. The adoption team chooses a potential adopter, and contacts them for a home visit. Meanwhile a vet check is done. Meet and greets are scheduled when everything checks out. If the prospective adopter wants to move forward, and the adoption team is in agreement, a contract with the requested fee is sent to the prospective adopter. Once the contract is signed and the fee paid, the dog will be transferred to the adopter. All medical records will be sent.
