My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kaia
Middletown, DE

Kaia is an approximately 1.5 year old, 25 pound Australian cattle dog mix who is looking for her fur-ever family. She currently lives with several other dogs but can be unpredictable and does not do well with all, several meet & greets will be required with any resident dogs due to Kai’s dominant behavior. There should be no small animals in Kaia’s forever home as she has an extreme prey drive and is relentless in her pursuit.

Kaia is very good about entertaining herself and playing independently so would be fine as the only dog & the center of attention in her new home! She loves exploring the yard, however, is a 1-woman machine when it comes to digging holes. If you enjoy a well manicured yard, you can stop reading now, you’ll never have it with Kaia around.

Kai is crate trained and mostly potty trained with only a few accidents but will need continued positive reinforcement in her new home.

She is up to date on age appropriate vaccines, spayed, microchipped and on flea & heart-worm preventatives. She knows several basic commands, but has selective hearing if you don’t have a visible treat to offer her for performing them. Potential adopters must live within 1-2 hour of Kaia’s foster home, zip code 19709, due to the need for multiple meet and greets.

Because of Kaia’s unique personality, a home that has Belgian malinois, german shepherd or bully breed experience would likely understand her the most. She will not be adopted to a home with children. Please contact Kaia’s foster Mom at gina443@hotmail.com with any questions.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
