My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This girl is pure love - all she wants is to give it and to get it in return. She absolutely adores her people and wants to be with them as much as possible. Those big beautiful brown eyes will look at you with so much love in them - she will make you feel like you are the most important person in her world. Tess is playful and full of life but she has a "chill" side, too, and loves just hanging out or watching TV with you.

Jessie's Girl aka "Tess" would make a great family pet in a home with kids, dogs and/or cats. She has a submissive and sweet personality that makes her totally lovable. She is a bit shy with new people and dogs but very friendly with absolutely no aggression. It may take her a short time to get used to her new home and people, but soon she will be your shadow & best friend! Who can resist those big chocolate-colored eyes, gazing up at you with love?  Soon you'll find yourself singing "Brown-Eyed Girl", too!

Tess loves to play and go for walks - she also loves her toys. If you play with her with a Frisbee, ball, tug toy, or squeak toy she will be your BFF for life - she's also quite good at entertaining herself with a chew toy or a "squeakie"! Tess is very treat motivated so she's easy to train - she already knows Sit and Give Paw. And she takes those treats so gently! Tess loves being with her people so much that she would do best in a home where someone was around most of the time.

Tess is 3 years old and weighs about 40 lbs. - she is full grown so she's "right sized" for just about any home situation. Tess is housetrained but as much as she loves going on walks, she prefers to do her "business" in a fenced-in yard. She's also terrific on a leash and a very good listener. Tess is great with dogs big and small, male and female - she currently lives with 4 other dogs & would love a doggie friend in her new home to play with.

If you are interested in meeting Tess, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to mention her "official" name, JESSIE'S GIRL TX!

More about this rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).
