My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Please read FULL description before inquiring.*

Slim Jim is a busy young mouse who was part of an accidental litter. he is very sweet, active and happy, and does not bite when picked up. We do not neuter mice prior to adoption, but can for $75 per mouse (mouse neuters are typically $200+). Mice are very social animals and are happiest with friends, however can live very happy and fulfilled lives singularly in an ideal habitat and with human interaction.

As with all small animals, proper care for mice is unfortunately generally not well known. While they are quite easy to care for, their small size makes them fragile for clumsy little hands that may drop or squeeze them, and they are very difficult to find if they escape their habitat. Therefore, they are not a good choice for a child's pet, except with constant adult supervision and help. It is quite rare for mice to bite; when they do, it is just a small nip. They tend to like to crawl on humans and are usually very friendly and sweet. Many of the animals that come to us with "behavioral issues" are very sweet and calm once they are in a proper habitat/environment. The larger the habitat, the happier the mouse and larger habitats don't need to be cleaned as often. For more information on mouse care, please review our mouse care guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ajRfdvm-gbj9hdbNu7KE8EbRJzHvAuX__Gd0WY6-500/edit?usp=sharing

If you're interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application at www.hhsar.org/adopt. The adoption fee is $10, which does not include a habitat, cage, or any supplies. We regularly have used habitats, cages, and supplies available for a donation fee. Please contact us for more information. We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a shelter location where our animals can be visited. We can arrange a visit if you're interested in adopting, but we require an adoption application to be submitted before.
