I`ve been dreaming about a place and a person to call my own since August and although I’ve loved my many temporary homes, I`m yearning for a place where I can stay forever.
Since moving to a foster home in March, where I live with another large dog and a cat, I have truly thrived. I’ve re-discovered my love of chasing balls and mastered commands like `sit,” “shake,” and `lie down.” My playful and friendly demeanor shines through whether I`m frolicking in the yard or snuggling at home.
In my foster home, I’m a non-destructive, quiet companion who treasures every cuddle and belly rub—the epitome of a “gentle giant” who loves nothing more than snuggling up with my person. My foster mom calls me `little shadow` because wherever you are, that’s where I want to be too.
My good manners extend to excellent leash skills, ensuring every walk is enjoyable. I might perk up when squirrels catch my eye, but it’s all in good fun! Rest assured, I`m easy to handle and always strive to make our outings enjoyable. I’m also respectful and courteous of my foster siblings, another large dog, and a cat. My interactions with the cat have been patient and calm. I’m mildly curious but keep to myself—I will win her over, eventually! I’m ready to join the pack as a considerate and loving brother. Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
