My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oliver! Oliver is a 13 pound, 5 year old, mini poodle and shih tzu mix.

Oliver was scared when he first came into foster care at the beginning of 2023 but has completely changed into a new dog. He is happy and loving, likes to crawl into your lap and bathe you in kisses. He likes most dogs–especially females, and tolerates cats.

Oliver will go absolutely crazy for treats and for walks. If you take out the bag of treats or even hold a leash he will prance with excitement. He is an on the go walker. He truly believes exploring his neighborhood is his life's purpose.

Oliver does well with new people, including children, as long as people ignore him until he approaches them. This show of respect for his boundaries quickly wins him over.

Although it looks like two different dogs in the picture, they are all Oliver. He does not like to be groomed and came into care with heavily matted hair. Although his foster parents thought the shag was adorable, the only way to remove the mats was a shave. As his hair grows back, you can either continue to trim him down or brush him so you can enjoy the long shaggy hair, too.

Oliver has a few teeth that look a bit questionable. He needs dental work that will be covered by Broken Tail Rescue. Other than that, he is a healthy, happy pup, ready to be your companion.

Oliver is being fostered in Auburn and their adoption fee is $350.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
