My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When we say Little Lexi, we MEAN Little Lexi; she's not even 8 pounds.

She's mighty, though. She can tear after a tennis ball like nobody's business, and she's a leash walker extraordinaire.

Lexi comes to DREAM after her human was sadly unable to care for her any longer due to his own failed health. A carer was meant to be looking after both Lexi and her dad, and it's clear that she was neglected for a long time.

We're having all of her vetting updated and getting some extra meat and potatoes onto her bones, and she's loving her new life in a foster home with attention, other dogs and even two young children.

She's incredibly loving and sweet, and we can't wait to see her spoiled with the adoration she deserves.

More photos and info coming soon as we get to know her better.

If you are interested in adopting Little Lexi, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Little Lexi's adoption fee is $300.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Little Lexi will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.

Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.

Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.

DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
