My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian.
Meet Leo! A 4-year-old male Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) with a feisty personality. Leo loves the outdoors (hiking, swimming, the dog park) and playing with other dogs. He is not super affectionate, with cat-like qualities, and his natural instinct is to herd, since he is a working dog. He would do best in a home with other dogs and no children. He is curious about cats, but we aren't sure how he would do. Overall, he is a good boy, but has some anxiety and takes a while to warm up to strangers. Looking for his forever home, and ideally an owner who has experience with Heelers!

Additional adoption info

Please come in and visit with our pets available for adoption. Once you find an animal you would like to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an adoption survey and meet with an adoption counselor. We do require landlord approval and we do not adopt out animals to live completely outside. Our adoption fees are $75 for dogs and cats under 5 years old and $55 for those 5 years and older.

More about this shelter

The shelter has very active volunteer and foster programs. Volunteers walk dogs and help with cat care. Fosters take young, shy and injured animals into their homes to prepare them for adoption. Learn more on our website and consider getting involved today!
