This helps Clover Hop Bunny Friends with pet care costs.
We were notified that Hitchcock Road Animal Services (a high kill shelter) had 15 rabbits headed their way as strays. The shelter only has capacity for 3 rabbits which they already had so most of these new 15 were at immediate risk. We were told Hitchcock is VERY quick to euthanize with no warning given. We immediately jumped into action to try to find fosters for these rabbits, as we could only help if we had fosters to place them with. It was hard for us to sleep at night knowing these bunnies were at imminent risk to be euthanized if they were not adopted or able to be placed with rescues. Some of the bunnies had temporary housing in the shelter, but for the ones that there was no room for, they had to stay in wire bottom cages outside. There are currently still 7 needing placement and 4 of those are at critical risk of being euthanized within 2 days. If you can foster or adopt please apply or contact us for questions.
Celestial was one of the first 3 bunnies we took in. She was thin and had lots of little scabs on her body from being bit. The worst was a bite directly on her lips that will most likely scar. We estimated her age to be about 5 months old. She's very sweet and curious and settled in quickly in her temporary xpen with fleece, water bowl, toys and litter box. It was quite a change from living on the street. She adjusted so well she even started using her litter box the first night. Her foster says they love their new family member and she is adjusting well to the indoor life.
