My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jan, the adorable one-year-old retriever mix who is currently waiting for her forever home at our shelter. Jan is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves snuggling with her favorite humans. However, she is currently experiencing fear and anxiety when it comes to the outside world.

Given her timid nature, Jan would thrive in a home environment where she can feel safe and secure. She would particularly benefit from the companionship of a confident and calm dog or a fenced-in backyard where she can explore and play without feeling overwhelmed.

Jan is incredibly motivated by food, which makes her an excellent candidate for training. With the right guidance and positive reinforcement, she has the potential to become a well-behaved and obedient companion. Whether it's basic commands or more advanced tricks, Jan is eager to learn and please her new family.

At the shelter, Jan loves nothing more than tearing up stuffies and having energizing zoomies sessions with her sister Fay. These playful moments bring out her youthful spirit and showcase her zest for life. With the right playmate, Jan will undoubtedly bring lots of joy and entertainment to her new home.

If you're looking for a loving and playful addition to your family, Jan could be the perfect match. Her snuggling abilities, along with her potential for training and love for play, make her an exceptional dog waiting for the right person or family to give her the love and stability she deserves. Come meet Jan today and see if she steals your heart!

Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things that she will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in her mouth are all part of the puppy experience. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy she will bring into your life.

If you are up for the challenge and the fun, stop in and meet her in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
