My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carter – Your Next Great Adventure Awaits!

If you're looking for a fun-loving, energetic companion who's always up for an outing, Carter is your guy! This social pup is a true extrovert—he loves meeting new people and dogs, especially those who can keep up with his playful spirit.

Whether it’s hopping in the car for a hike, splashing in a river, or playing an enthusiastic game of fetch, Carter is happiest when he’s out exploring the world by your side. He’s especially fond of dog friends his size or bigger who enjoy a good chase or some friendly roughhousing.

Carter is house-trained, knows his basic manners, and is eager to keep learning. He’s making great progress in his doggy social skills and just needs a forever family to help him continue to thrive.

What’s Carter’s dream? A home with a big yard, lots of love, and someone ready to share life’s adventures. If you’re looking for a loyal hiking buddy and a joyful presence in your life, Carter can’t wait to meet you!

Carter's Favorite Things:

Chews: I enjoy crunching on my favorite chews in my safe spaces.
Outside Time: I love being outside and taking in my environment.
Hikes: I enjoy doing a few miles on the trails with my favorite friends

Carter is an All-Star dog! His adoption comes with some extra benefits at time of adoption. Their adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and they will go home with their very own no-pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get them off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Carter, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you!

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Ask fosters@ahconnects.org about fostering Carter, while he waits for his forever home!

More about this shelter

A one-of-a-kind animal welfare organization, Anderson Humane focuses on creating and supporting mutually beneficial relationships between people and animals. Current programming such as our Adoption Program, Military Veterans’ Program, and Healing Paws Pet Therapy Program create positive, impactful connections between people and animals, improving the lives of both. Future programs will be offered in partnership with human-service organizations throughout our community, maximizing impact and changing lives for the better.

Anderson Humane is a resource for pet owners, providing information and services to provide better care for their pets. Services such as our Low-Cost Vaccination, Dental, and Spay/Neuter Clinics offer affordable veterinary care options, preventing owners from having to give up their pets simply because they can’t afford care. On the horizon are additional programs to keep pets in homes, such as a pet food pantry, affordable pet training options, and temporary housing for pets when families are in crisis.
