My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It's Mari! We believe she's a Staffordshire/terrier mix but her foster parent is pretty sure there's some Lab or Great Dane in there. This beautiful unique breed mix makes her a Big Sweet Gallumphing Bébé ??

Mari is a 3 year old girl who is house trained, kennel trained, and excellent on the leash. In foster care she is learning commands like "sit," "come," "paw," and "aren't you so beautiful." Mari would thrive as a solo dog; she's an excellent companion dog for a loving person or family. Mari likes riding in the car with you and napping on a big soft dog bed. She is a good listener. She is quiet and curious about the world. Mari has big paws, beautiful brown eyes, and a very big heart.

Mari is low maintenance - she would love snacks, napping, a nice walk, and a good chew bone, and that's about it. Mari would make an excellent companion dog for an adopter looking for a best friend.

Mari is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. She is heartworm positive and has a sponsor to pay for her treatment. She is available at the Plaquemines Campus at 455 F. Edward Hebert Blvd in Belle Chasse. We are open Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 5pm. For any questions, please call 504-934-6931 or email plaqueminescampus@laspca.org

Thanks to GOOD PUP, Mari comes with FREE training to help create a strong bond with her new family right from the start.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The LA/SPCA pet adoption process includes meeting with a matchmaker to match your lifestyle with the perfect companion. You will spend time with any of the pets you think would be a great companion. You may even want to come back another day to make sure he is the one! All of our animals must be spayed or neutered before you can take them home. Sometimes your perfect companion has not had this procedure done, so please be patient with us if you have to come back to pick him up.

All of our animals have been spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. We encourage anyone with animals to spay or neuter their pets.

More about this shelter

Chartered in 1888, the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state. Our mission is to advocate for the animals of Louisiana by advancing their welfare, promoting their interests, and fostering the human-animal bond through innovative programs, education, and service.

The LA/SPCA is not a state, parish or city governed shelter. We are an independent 501(c)3 non-profit offering a broad range of services and programs including advocacy, legislative services, statewide cruelty investigations, sheltering, full-service animal control (Orleans Parish only), adoption, disaster response, education, and obedience programs.
