My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cheddar has blossomed into the sweetest, loving, and goofy guy who wants to hang out by your side all day, or nap on the couch with you and a feline friend. It’s hard to believe he’s still a kitten, about 9 months old, because he looks full grown, but you can see his kitten-ness in his body, which still has to grow into his big paws and head (lol).

Cheddar’s adorable personality, including where he rolls around and flops over, has started to shine through now that he feels safe and loved with his foster mom and her cat, his big brother. He goes up to his foster mom and asks for pets, and he also likes to sit on the couch to watch TV with her. He’s an avid bird-watcher from a perch on the couch, and give him a cardboard cat puzzle with dry food treats in it and he goes to town! He’s one soft boy too, with an incredibly shiny, healthy coat, and he’s always up for a brushing – and eating and drinking water too.

Cheddar was found outside at a managed cat colony, looking skinny and sad and cautiously waiting till the regulars ate before approaching the food dishes. The colony caretakers definitely thought he could be a dumped pet even though he was too scared to go up to them. Once he was brought inside, it was clear that he was frightened, but even so it didn’t take long for him to lean into pets and make clear that he was definitely a friendly boy. Without knowing what his life was like before being rescued, we feel confident that he was around and comfortable with people, although maybe in the context of a bodega or working cat of some kind.

Cheddar is still a little timid, but with every day he gains more confidence and comfort. What a great time to make him a member of your family! He’ll be shy at first in a new environment, but having a feline friend that likes other cats will help his transition, as will a patient adopter who wants the opportunity to see Cheddar shine. Greenies or Temptations will help too! He’s the sweetest boy and will make a great companion for his forever pawrent as well as his cat brother or sister.

Cheddar is neutered, up-to-date on his shots, negative for FeLV and FIV. He’ll do best would in a quiet, adult household with a resident cat that definitely wants a friend.
