My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Luna! My foster humans also call me Luna Tuna, Luna Baboona, and Luna Shmoonah for some odd reason. I don’t much care for those nicknames, but they seem to get a hoot out of it. So, whatever. I'm 42lbs and 1 year old.

I’m about a year old! I was saved from a place where I was neglected and mistreated, lived outside, flea infested, and unfortunately, I was a “teen mom”. My uterus was pretty inflamed and upon discovery, I had a few undeveloped fetuses stuck in there. Yikes, I know right?!
Since then, I’ve been cleaned up, fully vaccinated, dewormed, got my tubes tied, and I’m chipped! I’m heartworm negative and no more fleas! Thank goodness!

My hobbies include; chewing on my bone, playing with my stuffy snake, chewing on my OTHER bone, hanging out with my foster parents, and taking walks around the pond. I like to look at the ducks and turtles. My foster mom doesn’t let me get too close to them, but I sure do try. I enjoy naps on occasion and I do well when we go on car rides. Or as they call it, “let’s go BYE-BYE”. Nerds. ?
I really love bugging my 4-legged foster bro. He’s a big, grumpy old guy, but he tolerates my somewhat energetic personality. I also have a small, 4-legged foster sister. And to be quite honest, she’s kind of stuck up. So, we don’t hang out much. I think I’m growing on her though.

I’ve seen a few cats roaming around the house, and they seem to be scared of me. I’m curious about them, but they won’t give me a chance to introduce myself. Like, JUST LET ME LOVE YOU! You know?! Geez.

What else? Oh! I’m potty trained AND house trained! Not to toot my own horn or anything, but no accidents yet. I’m currently being crate trained. I don’t like it much, and I’ve found my voice to vocalize just that! But, I’m getting better at it.
I also am learning to sit on command. That’s not too hard though, because I get snacks if I do it. And who doesn’t love snacks?!

For the most part I reeeeeally love to snuggle. But also, I REALLLLY love getting my zoomies out. I enjoy having a back yard with a fence so I can run around and play and rub my bod in the grass and soak up the rays.

I don’t know how I feel about tiny humans yet, because I’ve never met one. But I sure am friendly with adult humans! I would say I get a lot of attention when I walk into a room. I mean, I am beautiful. Duh! Have you seen these eyeballs?!
But, I also have a pretty great personality. Some would say that I am loyal, and super sweet, sassy at times, and really playful. And since I’m still young, I like loads of attention and I’m curious about EVERYTHING! So, don’t leave your shoes out, if you know what I mean…

Anyway, that’s enough about me! I could go on, and on, and ON! But, I want to know more about YOU now! If you’d like to know more about me, please contact Bigloverescue.org!
I can’t wait to meet ya!

Additional adoption info

We are extremely thorough with our adoption process. Our goal is to find the best fit for our dogs. We reserve the right to deny anyone a dog if we feel the applicant is not qualified or is not a good fit for the dog at our discretion. We require two personal references that we call to check character and get a recommendation on why or why not the applicant is a good candidate. Also, we call the vet reference to be sure the applicants current dog is current on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. The home check is mandatory to be sure the applicant lives where they say they live and the pet will live in a safe environment.

More about this rescue

The Charity's specific purpose is to rescue lost or abandoned dogs from shelters, from the streets or from owners who are no longer able to care for them. Our goal is to prevent further euthanasia of these animals. All dogs receive medical care and behavioral training as needed to prepare them for a new home.
We do not have a facility.
All of our dogs are in foster homes.
The charity will also focus on efforts to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their animals to prevent the overpopulation of animals in Texas.
Our adoption fee is $300 which includes alteration, vaccines, microchip, training program in some cases & any medical treatments needed for each dog to be 100% healthy and successful in a home. Must have an approved application to set up a meet and greet.
