My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marbles and his four siblings (Scrabble, Scategories, Parcheeesi, & Yahtzee) were born near an elementary school to a grey stray momma and a big, fluffy, black polydactyl (extra toes) stray pappa. Three of the 5 kittens are also big footed polydactyls. Marbles is 1 of those 3! Luckily, neighbors fed and provided them shelter for the kittens & momma until they reached out to our shelter for help.

Marbles & siblings were older (8 weeks old) when they entered an ARC foster home, so socialization was needed. Marbles was the first to receive a name. He was named Marbles because the foster father stated that he sounded like he was gargling marbles when he first arrived. His other siblings were then named after old-time games the foster family played when they were young. Marbles no longer sounds like he was gargling marbles, rather, he purrs all the time! The vet never found anything wrong with his breathing as a young kitten, so we believe he either grew out of it or Marbles was just trying to find is purr. And boy did he ever!

All the kittens all had some access to the dogs in the foster home, but that was limited as to not frighten them during thier socialization. The kittens could probably acclimate to a home with dogs if the dog has already been around cats. While Scategories, Parcheeesi, & Yahtzee went to the shelter at 4 months of age, Marbles stayed at the foster home with brother Scrabble so he could get more socialization since Scrabble was the last of the 5 kittens to be caught and brought to the foster home. They love cuddling and playing together.
