Yes, Jasper IS quite a gem. He’s a friendly, free spirit. Second time’s the charm for sociable, lap cat Jasper, as he was originally adopted from EHS years ago, but was surrendered due to allergies in the home. They loved him dearly and wanted the best for him, so they contacted EHS.
ABOUT JASPER - In foster - Jasper is a smart and loving cat! He’ll gently touch your face with his paw as his way of asking you to rub your face against his and kiss the top of his head. - This brilliant boy has been successfully clicker trained to sit and give fist bumps! He also enjoys sitting upright on top of boxes like a statue. - Jasper isn’t high energy, but he does like to run around the house and play with bouncy balls, wand toys, the laser pointer, and automatic cat motion toys. But mostly, he just loves to sit on laps and purr. - He will meow for food. Jasper is highly food motivated, and it’s another way to unlock his purrs! - Jasper is an ardent guardian of his home. He is very protective, running to the door to investigate visitors, but all he needs is a proper introduction to ensure that he feels safe and calm. - Jasper is a sweet fella with a lot of big feelings! A back-scratcher is an essential tool to redirect any sense of fear or agitation in Jasper. If you tap it on the floor he will come running for pets on his head and cheeks. - Daily anti-anxiety medication helps Jasper to stay calm, but he still needs support from his people to help him manage some of his triggers—especially those that key into hunting instincts like bird watching. - Jasper is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations.
JASPER’S IDEAL HOME - Jasper needs a quiet, spacious home with no small children or other pets, and few visitors. - Transitions to new environments are difficult for Jasper so adopters need to be prepared (treats help!), but once he has settled, he will show his loving side. - He’s not suitable for first-time adopters. Jasper needs a person who is experienced with cat behaviour and won’t be concerned if there is hissing, swatting, or biting. - Jasper is available on a foster-to-adopt basis. Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help him settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Jasper with a successful transition to his forever home.<
