My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE DIRECT INQUIRIES ABOUT ADOPTABLE DOGS TO OUR FACEBOOK. WE ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO PROCESS APPLICATIONS VIA EMAIL DUE TO LIMITED STAFF. OUR CONTACT IS THROUGH FACEBOOK MESSENGER. https://www.facebook.com/REDRescueEveryDog/

Katya is a 1.5 year old (DOB 2021), spayed, Great Pyrenees (GP). GP dogs are a livestock guardian breed. Katya has been a very sweet girl in her current caregiver’s home and farm. She likes people she meets. Note: she has had no experience with young children. She lives with other dogs and, in that situation, is considered a lower member when it comes to pack dynamics. She has been good with horses and mule livestock. At this time, she is NOT free-range chicken approved. She has been easy to bathe and groom. When she doesn't like you brushing or something, she'll just gently take your hand in her mouth. That is a very normal GP reaction.

Since she is a Great Pyrenees, she barks when outside and can hear, smell, or sense change or predators, as this is a livestock guardians’ job. Like all great Pyrenees, she will dig holes and has dug under fences. This is a thing for many GP. They are an amazing breed but require a bit higher-level dog skills and involvement that create kind pack leadership.

Most dogs require a fenced yard. We seek fully fenced yards with a physical, visible fence. Typically, the fence must be connected to the house/ a door in the home, and the dog safe fenced area must exclude driveway and car access. Shock/electronic fences will not be approved for most dogs. A sturdy, high quality crate is also required (due to safety concerns, no wire or soft crates will be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate). We will be considering homes in W. Wa and possibly Oregon, no other out of state adoptions at this time. Adoption donation is $450.00 to help cover his neuter, daily care, vetting, etc.

THIS DOG IS IN FOSTER CARE IN POULSBO, WA. MEET AND GREETS WILL TAKE PLACE THERE AS WELL.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION:

- Securely and visibly fenced yard
- Sturdy/safe crate, due to the safety hazard wire crates will be not be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate).
- Western Washington (WA), and possibly Northern Oregon locations at caseworker discretion. No other out of state adoptions at this time.

Meeting a Posted Pet.

You must submit an application at our website http://www.rescueeverydog.org/Adoption.php and be approved for a meet and greet with foster parent or caseworker. Times for meet and greets are set by caseworker or volunteer foster home.

R.E.D. companion animals are located in home foster care all over Washington State. Most Animals are in the King, Pierce and Kitsap areas. However, they can be in any county in Washington State and sometimes Oregon. All Animals are seen by appointment only by applicants that have complete the online application and been phone interviewed with a positive outcome. Home visits are done either before or after a meet and greet with the animal and the animal's caseworker or foster parent. If you wish to apply to adopt , please go to www.rescueeverydog.org, look under adoption for the online application. Email support@rescueeverydog.org if you have a question or want to check status of an animal, (keep in mind with this delay in submitting an application, you may miss the opportunity to apply while waiting for our email status response. Generally, the animals seen on the adoption page are available for application.) R.E.D. will adopt to states near Washington and to parts of Canada. However, R.E.D. does not adopt animals out of state/country with out a one on one meeting and we do not ever air ship animals . Out of state adoptions are possible but the adopter must be willing to travel to the companion animal's location for an in person meet and greet. The home visit requirement must also be met.

More about this rescue

R.E.D. (Rescue Every Dog) is a support group for public animal shelters. The public animal shelters we support do not have the necessary staff or funding to provide adequate space, medical care and adoption capability for the number of animals they receive. Saving highly-adoptable companion animals that are to be euthanized in such shelters is R.E.D.'s top priority. We also assist ownerless adoptable companion animals when possible, who are in high-risk situations due to no fault of their own, and medically needy adoptable companion animals.

For the animals we rescue, we provide the safe haven of home foster care, medical care, and spay/neutering while our volunteers seek loving lifetime homes for them. Some of the animals in high-risk euthanasia situations that we are unable to foster can receive assistance from R.E.D. Alert, which publicizes their plight and searches for alternate rescue solutions via the Internet.

R.E.D. is staffed by volunteers who provide transportation, medical care, home foster care, and training for the animals R.E.D. assists. All R.E.D. foster dogs, puppies, cats, kittens are spayed and neutered before they go to adoptive homes. R.E.D. volunteers also provide education and community support on such topics as the benefits of spay/neuter, re-homing advice and assistance, and prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

Donations to R.E.D. are used to pay the direct costs of R.E.D.'s animal care, promotion and placement. When ever possible, some donations are used to assist animals and low income owners with low cost and no cost spay and neuter. R.E.D. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and donations to R.E.D. are tax-deductible.
