Oh sweet Lea has won the hearts of so many of our volunteers, and we are all cheering her on to find her forevers! This very good girl was rescued along with 30+ puppies and 4 other adults from a pretty horrid neglect situation.
Of course the puppies all adopted pretty quickly, but the adults were terribly undersocialized and have all taken quite a bit of TLC to get them ready to leave us. Lea started out her journey with us in a wonderful foster home that includes a mom, dad and 11 year old human boy plus several foster pups coming and going and the 4 resident dogs. Although very shy when she first came to us, she was pretty relaxed with all of them. Preferring that the humans not really touch her, but she offered absolutely zero aggression. During her time with them, she blossomed and would come up to the humans but preferred that they not really pet her too long. During this time, she was still with one of her original siblings, and the decision was made to split them up to see if that would help them become more reliant on humans and not each other. BINGO! The plan worked. The first 10 days they were split up were pretty tough, but on day 10, both decided that they needed to snap out of it and they did!
Lea now follows her foster mom, allows her to pet her at will and even comes up to all of the family members for loving. She sleeps all night on her doggie bed inside a gated area of the house, but she rarely wanders. She loves to be outside but she's also very comfortable inside and has done great on her housetraining. However, we do expect that once she moves to a new home, she might have a little setback on housetraining until she gets acclimated.
If you are looking for the perfect girl to complete your family, Lea just might be the one for you! She's in CT and we'd love to set up a meet and greet upon application approval. She likely won't attend events for quite a while (if at all) but her foster mom will be happy to make the intros.

Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event!
The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested negative for heartworms.
If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.
After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.
