Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Update from Freckles' foster family: "Freckles is slowly learning how to dog and trust humans. When her sister Lea was adopted, Freckles was integrated into our house with our three personal dogs. It took her about two weeks to finally come out of her shell. She gets along well with our dogs. She tries to play with the two smaller ones, but they aren't really the playful type. She doesn't let that discourage her. Freckles loves soft plushies more than hard chew toys and bones. She is housebroken and will whine at the back door when she wants to go outside. Due to her background, we haven't been crating her at night or when we leave the house. She has behaved well out of her crate when we are not there. The best Christmas gift ever for Freckles would be to have her own furever family."
Sweet Freckles has a sad backstory, but her future is looking bright. Freckles was used as a puppy factory by a backyard breeder in West TN. She did not get any socialization as she was growing up and this has caused her to be extremely shy and timid toward humans. The breeder contacted CPR about surrendering a litter of puppies. When the CPR volunteer went to pick the puppies up, she noticed what a terrible state Freckles, along with 3 other pyrs, were living in. The volunteer convinced the owner to surrender the adults along with the litter of puppies.
Freckles was covered in fleas and ticks when she came to CPR. Due to the infestation, she had to be shaved down. She is starting to grow her coat out and also put on much-needed weight. When Freckles came to her foster home, she wouldn't get out of the car. She had to be carried to her pen area because she was so frightened and timid.
It's been almost two months since Freckles came to her foster home and she is slowly warming up to her foster family. She is very treat motivated. She loves hot dogs. Every day, her foster dad can see the struggle in her eyes as she hovers just out of his reach. Freckles so wants to be loved and petted, but just can't seem to get over her fears. Freckles is in foster care with her sister Lea, who has warmed up completely to the foster family. Freckles desperately needs a soft place to land with people who will be patient with her as she works on trusting them.
Freckles is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.
WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!
If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
