My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elara is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, female, DOB: 6/20/23.

Happy, happy, happy; that's Elara in a nutshell! This delightfully charming young cat is a friendly, social, and pretty confident feline who also happens to be really good-natured and easy-to-please. An affectionate and endearing young cuddle-bug, Elara will be looking for opportunities to give and receive loving-attention, and she enjoys some cuddling in the arms of those she knows and trusts. And you guessed it, she readily welcomes snuggles with her purr motor getting pretty revved-up when getting pets and perhaps some pre-petting revving too.

More looking to operate in her comfort zone than having reservations and not shy in-the-least, Elara is a confident, playful, pretty active, and undemanding young feline who is just darn happy to be in the company of people and other cats and kittens she knows. Also a gentle feline with a sensitive soul, she, like her sibling, is a total people-cat. With animated expression and completely engaging personality; this swashbuckling, adventurer will appreciate daily opportunities for ruff-n-tumble playtime as well as independent exploration avid hunting of household shadows, toy mice, and dust bunnies will, no doubt, be a lifelong favorite activity.

Elara came to Monroe SPCA as an orphan needing critical care, not able to eat on her own, found outdoors. She spent her first few critical months in Monroe SPCA in medical foster being bottle feed, and treated for fleas, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm.

Now a happy, healthy feline, Elara is looking for her forever home with a family who can give her the time and attention a young cat needs. Although Elara can be adopted individually, we recommend a pairing with several of our other young cats having compatible personalities and temperament.

Elara is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Elara currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
