My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apollo is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, male, DOB: 6/20/23.

Lively kitten playfulness along with plenty of delightful curiosity and fearless pursuit of adventure is one way to describe this adorably engaging, extremely friendly young feline. But only in-part. Throw in his wanting plenty of time on his daily itinerary for some independent exploring, but never too far away from his sister, Elara, his people, or family activities; and a snapshot of who Apollo is comes to light. But there is more yet.

Very much a gentle soul, with a bit of a mischievous side too, Apollo is a highly social and outgoing feline as well as being good-natured and entirely easy-to-please. Readily welcoming any pets offered as well as interactive playtime, Apollo's purr motor gets pretty revved-up when he’s getting pets or being spoken too - and that is the best way to his heart; soft-spoken words and gentle pets are the easiest way to get to know this little panther, as unfamiliar situations can make him hesitate to engage immediately. But once he knows all is well, he is quick to purr and head bump his approval.

Apollo came to Monroe SPCA as an orphan needing critical care, not able to eat on his own, found outdoors. He spent his first few critical months in Monroe SPCA in medical foster being bottle feed, and treated for fleas, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm.

Now a happy, healthy feline, Apollo is looking for his forever home with a family who can give him the time and attention a young cat needs. Although Apollo can be adopted individually, we recommend a pairing with several of our other young cats having compatible personalities and temperament.

Apollo is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Apollo currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
