My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mater’s been enjoying lots of play with Obedient Blue, a local obedience school.  Mater is a compact 6 month old pup with a lot of energy. He would enjoy a home with another dog with a similar play style and an active human who has time to continue his training to help him be the best he can be.  Mater prefers an adult only home or one with children ages 12 and up.

If interested in adopting this adorable little guy please email rescueblackdogs@yahoo.com to begin the adoption process.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, we do check Vet references and personal references. Once processed we then do a home visit and met and greet. We do have an adoption agreement that the adopter must sign at the time of the adoption. Our adoption fee is $300.

Go meet their pets

Meet and greets are scheduled once a potential adopter's adoption application has been approved. We do not have a physical location, all dogs are in foster homes. Another great way to meet our dogs is at events. All events are posted on our Facebook page so check back frequently!

More about this rescue

Black Dogs & Company Rescue (BD&CR) rescues dogs from high kill shelters in Maryland and surrounding states. We are an all breed rescue but specialize in black dogs. Please read about black dog syndrome. These dogs are the last to be adopted (if at all) so they have a hard time leaving the shelter. You may have also noticed the old english sheepdog in our logo. We are the regional contact for OES rescue. They are not the dog for everyone but once you own one (and walk the sheepie way) you will love the breed!
