My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

https://foha.org/pet/doris/

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Doris — and like my name (which means gift in Greek), I bring something special to those lucky enough to earn my trust. I’m confident, smart, and beautiful, with a sassy streak that comes from knowing exactly what I want. I’m not afraid to share my opinions, but I’m also affectionate, playful, and love a good cuddle once we’ve bonded.

My favorite things? Splashing around in my pool on hot days, tossing around stuffed toys, going for walks, dressing up in fun costumes, and curling up in soft blankets. I enjoy companionship, but I also value my independence and appreciate having time and space to do my own thing.

I like to feel in control of my space and belongings — especially my food — but I’m making great progress with people I trust. Because I’m still a work-in-progress, I’m looking for an experienced adult-only home with no other pets, and minimal visitors. I need a calm, structured environment and someone patient who will go at my pace when it comes to introductions and building trust.

If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a one-of-a-kind companion and is willing to meet me where I’m at, I just might be the gift you didn’t know you needed.

HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
I prefer to be the only pet in the home.

HOW AM I WITH CATS:
Not recommended — I’m happiest as your one and only.

HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Best suited for an adult-only home.

I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
Not listed – but I’m smart and independent, and I thrive with consistent structure and clear boundaries.

MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
I’m fully housebroken and like to keep my space clean. A calm, structured routine helps me feel safe and at home.

THINGS I LIKE:
My kiddie pool, stuffed toys, cozy blankets, dressing up in costumes, quiet environments, going for walks, and forming bonds with patient people.

THINGS I DISLIKE:
Strangers, being rushed, sharing my space or food, and chaotic environments. I do best with experienced, respectful handlers.
