My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

https://foha.org/pet/chaucer2022/

ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi all! I'm Charming Chaucer — and yes, I live up to the name! I’m a handsome, smart, and energetic husky mix with a whole lot of personality and heart. I already know commands like sit, down, paw, and I’m working on mastering roll over — though I’ll happily roll over for belly rubs anytime!

I love playing fetch, then cooling off in a kiddie pool — it’s my idea of a perfect afternoon. And I have a very special hobby… turtle collecting! Don’t worry, I’m gentle — I just like carrying them around until someone offers me a fair trade. My preferred currency? Spray cheese. Only the good stuff.

While I can be a whirlwind of energy, I’m also deeply loyal and affectionate with the people I know and trust. I need a home that understands me — one without kids or cats — and with an experienced, patient owner who’s familiar with husky behavior. I thrive on slow introductions and consistency, and while I need time to build trust, I bond deeply once I do.

HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
Dog-selective. I play well with dogs I already know and have enjoyed playgroups with other huskies. However, I can be a bit of a bully toward more submissive dogs and need careful management during introductions. A pre-adoption call is required to discuss what type of dog (if any) might be a fit.

HOW AM I WITH CATS:
No cats for me, please.

HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
I need an adult-only home.

I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
Sit, down, paw, roll over (in progress)

MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
Not specified, but I do well on a routine. Staff can provide more details.

THINGS I LIKE:
Fetch, water play, belly rubs, turtle treasure hunts, spray cheese, treats, learning new tricks, and bonding with my people.

THINGS I DISLIKE:
Fast introductions, chaotic environments, and being touched around my stomach — please go slow and let me build trust at my pace.
